Overview

PHB1 pseudogene 11 (PHB1P11) is a human pseudogene—an inactive genomic region that resembles the coding sequence of the prohibitin 1 (PHB1) gene but does not produce a functional protein product. While other PHB1-related pseudogenes, such as *PHBP1*, have been studied for possible regulatory roles (for example, modulating the stability of PHB1 mRNA via the formation of RNA duplexes)[4], there is no published literature indicating that PHB1P11 has any biological function, participates in pathways, plays a role in human disease, or serves as a therapeutic or diagnostic target. Such pseudogenes are generally excluded from drug target databases and are not pursued as druggable entities. Key clarification: - PHB1P11 should not be confused with the functional human PHB1 gene, which encodes the prohibitin 1 protein, a well-characterized mitochondrial chaperone involved in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, tumor suppression, and a variety of intracellular signaling pathways[1][3]. - Similarly, functional activities reported for *PHBP1* (another prohibitin 1 pseudogene) do **not extend** to PHB1P11 based on present evidence[4]. If a functional PHB1 protein is of interest, or if you intended a different prohibitin-related target, please clarify or correct the target name.
