Overview

PHB1 pseudogene 12 (PHB1P12) is a processed pseudogene related to the PHB1 gene. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes are generally considered to be non-functional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events. Most pseudogenes do not produce functional RNA or protein products, although in rare cases, some pseudogene transcripts can participate in gene regulation. There is currently no evidence that PHB1P12 has any established biological function, disease association, or value as a therapeutic target. Most published research on PHB1 pseudogenes focuses on PHB1P1/PHBP1, not PHB1P12, and there is no data to suggest PHB1P12 is expressed, regulated, or implicated in human disease[4][5]. If you are seeking information on the functional PHB1 protein, it is a well-characterized, ubiquitously expressed protein involved in mitochondrial integrity, cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and cancer biology[1][2][3]. However, PHB1P12 itself is not a recognized drug target or biomarker and does not have a known molecular or therapeutic role.
