PHB1 pseudogene 12 (PHB1P12) is a processed pseudogene related to the PHB1 gene. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes are generally considered to be non-functional remnants of gene duplication or retrotransposition events. Most pseudogenes do not produce functional RNA or protein products, although in rare cases, some pseudogene transcripts can participate in gene regulation. There is currently no evidence that PHB1P12 has any established biological function, disease association, or value as a therapeutic target. Most published research on PHB1 pseudogenes focuses on PHB1P1/PHBP1, not PHB1P12, and there is no data to suggest PHB1P12 is expressed, regulated, or implicated in human disease[4][5].
