Target intelligence / Profile preview
PHC2 antisense RNA 1 (PHC2-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA transcribed antisense to the PHC2 gene, which encodes a Polycomb group protein involved in assembly and function of the PRC1 chromatin remodeling complex. As an antisense RNA, PHC2-AS1 likely plays a role in regulating gene expression, potentially by modulating the transcription or epigenetic state of PHC2 or neighboring loci. Antisense lncRNAs are broadly implicated in epigenetic regulation, silencing, and cellular differentiation, notably within cancer biology and developmental processes, though there are no direct functional studies of PHC2-AS1 to date. PHC2-AS1 is not classically considered a receptor, enzyme, or transporter but belongs to the noncoding regulatory RNA family. There is currently no evidence of direct drug interaction or biomarker utility, but ongoing research in antisense RNA mechanisms could expand its relevance to therapeutic development. If more specific disease associations or mechanisms are discovered for PHC2-AS1, structured annotations should be updated accordingly.
RNA-based mechanisms typical for lncRNAs, such as transcriptional interference, chromatin remodeling, or epigenetic silencing, based on broader antisense RNA functions rather than PHC2-AS1-specific data
