Phonological awareness

Phonological awareness is a cognitive and linguistic skill, specifically the ability to perceive, recognize, and manipulate sounds in spoken language. It is an educational and developmental concept, not a biological molecule, protein, or any other type of therapeutic target. It is a learned skill involving neural processes and is developed through behavioral activities like rhyming games, sound manipulation exercises, and reading instruction, rather than being susceptible to pharmaceutical intervention. Therefore, structured fields typically used for molecular targets (e.g., interacting drugs, mechanism of action for pharmaceuticals, molecular classifications) are inappropriate for phonological awareness.
