Target intelligence / Profile preview

Phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate-induced protein 1 (Noxa)

Target
Noxa
Molecular classification
BH3-only protein, BCL-2 family protein
01

Overview

PMAIP1, also known as Noxa, is a pro-apoptotic protein belonging to the BH3-only subfamily of the BCL-2 family. It promotes apoptosis by activating caspases and inducing mitochondrial membrane changes. Its expression is regulated by p53 and it plays a role in p53-mediated apoptotic pathways. Noxa interacts with anti-apoptotic BCL-2 family proteins like MCL-1 to neutralize their function, thereby promoting cell death.
