PDCL2 pseudogene 1 (PDCL2P1) is a non-coding pseudogene related by sequence similarity to the phosducin-like 2 gene (PDCL2), which encodes a protein involved in spermiogenesis and G protein signaling in its functional form. PDCL2P1 does not encode a protein product, is not involved in cellular signaling, has no known biological function, and is not considered a therapeutic or diagnostic target. The functional protein, PDCL2, is involved in spermiogenesis and may modulate heterotrimeric G protein signaling, but the pseudogene PDCL2P1 does not possess these attributes. No evidence exists in available scientific resources that would support consideration of PDCL2P1 as a drug target, molecular biomarker, or disease-associated gene. Pseudogenes such as PDCL2P1 typically do not encode functional proteins or have direct cellular functions, though some pseudogenes can be involved in regulation at the RNA level. There is currently no such evidence for PDCL2P1.
