Overview

Phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein 1 pseudogene 2 (PEBP1P2) is a non-coding RNA transcribed from a pseudogene homologous to PEBP1. Distinguished from classical protein-coding targets, PEBP1P2 functions as a regulatory lncRNA that suppresses cancer metastasis and abnormal vascular cell proliferation/migration. Low expression of PEBP1P2 is associated with poor prognosis in clear cell renal cell carcinoma, while high expression exerts protective effects in cardiovascular disease models. Mechanistically, PEBP1P2 stabilizes specific mRNAs and acts as a sponge for microRNAs, positioning it as a promising molecular target for future therapeutics and biomarker studies[1][2][12].

Not applicable for direct drug action; however, overexpression (genetic upregulation) of PEBP1P2 decreases cell proliferation, migration, and metastasis by stabilizing target mRNAs and sponging microRNAs
