Phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein 1 pseudogene 3 (PEBP1P3) is a pseudogene in the human genome. It is annotated as a natural antisense transcript (NAT) located on the opposite strand of CD45 intron 2 and produces a noncoding RNA. PEBP1P3 RNA is primarily expressed as a nuclear-localized transcript, especially in testis, blood, and lymphoid tissues. Its expression correlates with CD45 RNA levels, and functional studies indicate it regulates the alternative splicing of CD45 pre-mRNA via modifying local DNA methylation and histone marks. PEBP1P3 does not encode a functional protein and is not itself a traditional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter. Altered expression or function of PEBP1P3 may impact immune cell biology by modulating CD45 isoform expression, but no direct therapeutic targeting or drug interaction is known.
