Overview

Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase catalytic subunit delta isoform (p110δ) is a lipid kinase primarily expressed in leukocytes. It is a member of the Class IA PI3K family and plays a crucial role in immune cell signaling, including T cell, B cell, mast cell, and neutrophil activation. By phosphorylating phosphatidylinositol (PI) and its derivatives to generate phosphatidylinositol-(3,4,5)-trisphosphate (PIP3), it regulates various cellular processes such as cell proliferation, survival, and migration. Due to its involvement in immune regulation and its dysregulation in certain cancers, p110δ is a target for therapeutic intervention, with selective inhibitors like idelalisib used in the treatment of hematologic malignancies.
