Phosphatidylinositol 4,5-bisphosphate 3-kinase gamma (PI3Kγ) is a lipid kinase that phosphorylates phosphatidylinositol (4,5)-bisphosphate [PtdIns(4,5)P₂] to generate phosphatidylinositol (3,4,5)-trisphosphate [PIP₃]. PIP₃ acts as a second messenger involved in cell growth, survival, motility, and immune responses. PI3Kγ integrates signals from G-protein coupled receptors and is a potential therapeutic target in cancer, particularly acute myeloid leukemia, and inflammatory respiratory diseases.
