Phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis class P pseudogene 2" (PIGPP2) is a pseudogene and *not* a protein-coding gene. By definition, pseudogenes are gene sequences that resemble known genes but are typically non-functional due to mutations or deletions; they do not encode an active product. The canonical, protein-coding version in this gene family is "Phosphatidylinositol glycan anchor biosynthesis, class P" (PIGP), which encodes a subunit of the enzyme complex involved in the first step of glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor biosynthesis in humans. GPI anchors are glycolipids that tether proteins to the cell membrane[3]. However, PIGPP2 does not encode a functional protein and is not considered a drug target.
