Overview

Phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C X domain-containing protein 2 (PLCXD2) is an enzyme predicted to function in the hydrolysis of phosphatidylinositol and its phosphorylated derivatives, releasing molecules such as inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and diacylglycerol (DAG), which are key components in cell signaling pathways[1][6]. PLCXD2 is believed to play roles in lipid catabolism and intracellular signal transduction[1][3][2]. It is encoded by the PLCXD2 gene and is primarily localized to the nucleus according to predictive models[1][3]. Unlike well-characterized classical phospholipase C isoenzymes, there is limited knowledge of direct involvement in human disease, druggability, or biomarker status for PLCXD2[1][3][6]. Its gene is paralogous to PLCXD3. Multiple aliases are in use, largely variations of its systematic or protein family name[1][3]. No drugs, associated disease roles, or clinical safety issues have been documented for this protein to date[1][3][6].
