Overview

Phosphodiesterase 1A (PDE1A) is an enzyme that hydrolyzes cyclic nucleotides, specifically cAMP and cGMP, and its activity is stimulated by calcium/calmodulin. It plays a role in regulating various signaling pathways, particularly in cardiovascular tissues, the central nervous system, and other tissues. By controlling cAMP and cGMP levels, it influences processes such as vascular smooth muscle cell growth, survival, proliferation, and apoptosis. PDE1A is implicated in diseases such as hypertension, pulmonary arterial hypertension, metabolic syndrome, Fraser Syndrome and Nephrolithiasis.
