Phosphodiesterase 2A1 (PDE2A1) is a dual-substrate phosphodiesterase enzyme that hydrolyzes both cAMP and cGMP, regulating their intracellular concentrations. It is allosterically activated by cGMP, which enhances its activity toward both substrates, especially cAMP. PDE2A1 plays a role in signaling pathways involved in memory, cognition, hormone response, and cardiovascular function. It is highly expressed in the brain and other tissues.
Inhibition of cAMP and cGMP hydrolysis, leading to increased intracellular levels of these cyclic nucleotides.
