Phosphodiesterase 4A1 (PDE4A1) is an enzyme that hydrolyzes cAMP, a key regulator and mediator of numerous cellular responses to extracellular signals. By controlling cAMP levels, it plays a central role in regulating physiological processes such as immune cell function, learning and memory, anxiety regulation, and cardiovascular signaling. PDE4A1 contains a unique N-terminal region crucial for intracellular targeting and membrane association. It is a therapeutic target for anti-inflammatory and antidepressant drugs.
