Target intelligence / Profile preview
Phosphodiesterase 5A (PDE5A) is an enzyme that hydrolyzes cyclic GMP (cGMP), regulating its intracellular concentration. It plays a key role in vascular tone, smooth muscle relaxation, and other physiological processes. PDE5A inhibitors are used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension, and are being investigated for cardiovascular and cancer therapies.
PDE5A inhibitors bind with high affinity at the catalytic site of PDE5A, enhancing NO effects through increased cGMP levels.
