01

Overview

Phosphodiesterase 9A (PDE9A) is a high-affinity, cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of cyclic nucleotides, primarily cGMP, converting them into their corresponding monophosphates. This enzymatic activity regulates intracellular concentrations of cGMP and modulates various signal transduction pathways. PDE9A is expressed in the brain, heart, and other tissues and is implicated in cognitive function and cardiac hypertrophy. It is a therapeutic target for neurological disorders like Alzheimer's disease and cardiovascular diseases.
