Overview

Phospholipase C epsilon 1 pseudogene 1 (PLCE1P1) is a nonfunctional, non-protein-coding segment of the human genome related to the phospholipase C epsilon 1 gene. Pseudogenes generally arise through duplication or retrotransposition events and may retain sequence similarity to their functional parent gene but lack protein-coding capacity due to disabling mutations or absence of suitable regulatory elements. Although some pseudogenes are transcribed and may play roles in gene expression regulation—for example, by acting as decoys for microRNAs or participating in RNA interference pathways—most, including PLCE1P1, have no established biological function, disease association, or utility as a biomarker or therapeutic target[1][3].

Biological functions

Possible regulation of parent gene expression (if transcribed)may act as competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA)may generate non-coding RNAs such as siRNAs/miRNAs that regulate gene expression in rare cases
