Overview

Phospholipid-transporting ATPase VD (ATP10D) is a member of the P4-ATPase family, functioning as the catalytic core of a flippase complex that hydrolyzes ATP to drive the translocation of glucosylceramide and other aminophospholipids across cellular membranes, thereby maintaining membrane lipid asymmetry[6][7][1]. ATP10D is expressed in multiple tissues and localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum, nucleoplasm, and plasma membrane[1][2]. Although the full physiological and pathological significance of ATP10D in humans is still under investigation, genetic association studies suggest a role for ATP10D in lipid metabolism and cardiometabolic disorders[5]. Presently, there are no drugs known to directly target this protein, and it is not widely used as a biomarker or therapeutic target in current clinical practice.
