Target intelligence / Profile preview
The pp65 antigen, also known as phosphoprotein 65 or UL83, is a major structural protein of the human cytomegalovirus (HCMV). It is one of the most abundant proteins in the virion tegument and plays roles in virion morphogenesis, immune evasion by inhibiting type I interferon responses, and transactivation of viral immediate early genes. It's a major target for the immune response and is used as a diagnostic marker for active CMV infection.
