Overview

Phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate amidotransferase pseudogene 1 (PPATP1) refers to a pseudogene, which is a genomic DNA sequence similar to a gene but typically non-functional due to mutations that prevent its expression or translation into protein. It is not known to produce a functional enzyme or protein product, and there is no evidence linking PPATP1 to physiological, pathological, or pharmacological functions. Therefore, it is not considered a therapeutic target. Phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate amidotransferase is a real, functional enzyme involved in purine biosynthesis, but PPATP1 designates a pseudogene variant and not the functional enzyme. Pseudogenes like PPATP1 are generally classified as "other" in molecular terms and do not encode proteins, act as receptors, enzymes, transporters, or transcription factors. There is no evidence that PPATP1 serves as a drug target, biomarker, or plays any role in human disease. PPATP1 is not a functional target nor is it a correct entry for a therapeutically relevant gene, enzyme, or receptor; it is a pseudogene with no known biological or pharmacological role.
