Phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 2 pseudogene

The phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 2 pseudogene is a non-functional genomic DNA sequence related to the gene encoding human phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate synthetase 2 (PRPS2). Unlike its protein-coding counterpart, this pseudogene does not produce a functional enzyme and is not involved in metabolic pathways such as de novo nucleotide synthesis or salvage pathways. However, like other pseudogenes, its transcribed RNAs may play regulatory roles in gene expression, for instance, by acting as microRNA decoys or producing small interfering RNAs in specific cells[3][5][7]. There are no current direct disease associations, drug interactions, or therapeutic implications for this pseudogene.
