Phosphoribosyltransferase domain containing protein 1 (PRTFDC1) is a human protein structurally homologous to hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT), which is involved in the nucleotide salvage pathway[1][3]. PRTFDC1 can bind hypoxanthine and guanine and convert them to their corresponding nucleoside monophosphates, but its catalytic efficiency is extremely low—0.26% (for hypoxanthine) and 0.09% (for guanine) compared to HPRT, due largely to a key residue difference in the active site[1][3]. Its precise physiological function remains unknown, and available research indicates that it does not play a significant catalytic role in the human nucleotide salvage pathway[1][3]. No established disease associations, drug interactions, or biomarker roles are documented for PRTFDC1.
