A drug delivery system utilizing porphyrin-phospholipid nanoparticles that release encapsulated therapeutic agents upon exposure to specific wavelengths of light. The light activation generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) which disrupts the nanoparticle and releases the drug at the targeted site, providing localized and controlled drug delivery.
Light-activated porphyrins generate reactive oxygen species, disrupting the nanoparticle structure and triggering the release of encapsulated drugs at the site of illumination. This localized drug release minimizes off-target effects and maximizes therapeutic efficacy.
