Overview

PIGO antisense RNA 1 (PIGO-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) transcribed from the opposite strand of the PIGO gene locus. Like other antisense lncRNAs, PIGO-AS1 does not encode a protein but may regulate the expression of the sense gene, PIGO, potentially through mechanisms such as RNA-RNA interaction, modulation of local chromatin state, or transcriptional interference. While many antisense lncRNAs have been implicated in the regulation of gene expression and play roles in diseases like cancer, there is currently no direct evidence linking PIGO-AS1 to any specific disease or therapeutic mechanism. Its specific biological function and involvement in human pathology remain to be characterized.
