Overview

PIK3IP1 divergent transcript (PIK3IP1-DT) refers to a long non-coding RNA initiated from a promoter located downstream and antisense to the PIK3IP1 protein-coding gene. Transcription of PIK3IP1-DT depends on convergent promoter architecture, where transcriptional activity of both PIK3IP1 and the divergent transcript can be positively co-regulated by factors such as the p53-induced transcription factor RFX7[1]. Functional annotation is incomplete: the transcript is missing from many reference gene catalogs and its transcription start site (TSS) is not formally annotated[1][3]. The biological significance and functional mechanisms of PIK3IP1-DT remain largely unknown, with no established role in disease, drug response, or cell biology outside its potential cis-regulatory effects on the host gene, PIK3IP1. No known drugs, biomarkers, or direct clinical relevance is attributed to PIK3IP1-DT[3][4].
