Overview

The PIM family kinases are a group of serine/threonine kinases consisting of PIM1, PIM2, and PIM3. They play significant roles in cell survival, proliferation, apoptosis, and oncogenesis. These constitutively active enzymes are involved in cell cycle progression, metabolism, and migration. They are overexpressed in many cancers, especially hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Due to their role in cancer cell survival/proliferation, PIM kinases are considered promising targets for anticancer drug development.
