Pituitary hormone release refers to the tightly regulated process by which the pituitary gland secretes a variety of hormones into the bloodstream, under control of hypothalamic signals. The pituitary gland consists of two main lobes: anterior (adenohypophysis) and posterior (neurohypophysis), each with distinct mechanisms for hormone release and regulation. Anterior pituitary hormone release is controlled primarily by hypothalamic releasing and inhibiting hormones, while posterior pituitary hormone release is triggered by direct neural stimuli.
