Pituitary-specific positive transcription factor 1 (PIT1, also known as POU1F1 or POU class 1 homeobox 1) is a sequence-specific DNA-binding transcription factor belonging to the POU family, critical for the development of the anterior pituitary gland and regulation of genes responsible for growth hormone, prolactin, and thyroid-stimulating hormone β expression[1][3][4]. Mutations in *POU1F1* result in pituitary hormone deficiencies and are implicated in diverse endocrine growth disorders, making *POU1F1* a vital molecular determinant in pituitary biology but not presently a direct therapeutic target in standard clinical practice[3][4].
