Overview

PKIA antisense RNA 1 (PKIA-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the DNA strand opposite to the PKIA gene locus. Antisense lncRNAs are known to regulate gene expression of their sense counterparts and often participate in the epigenetic, transcriptional, and post-transcriptional modulation of gene activity[1][2]. While the functions of many specific antisense lncRNAs in cancer and cell biology are increasingly documented, there is currently no published evidence linking PKIA-AS1 itself to any specific disease, physiological process, or therapeutic modulation. Antisense lncRNAs in general have been shown to modulate gene expression through recruiting chromatin modifiers, forming RNA duplexes to alter mRNA stability, and influencing transcription factor binding, but individual target information, including for PKIA-AS1, remains sparse[1][2]. PKIA-AS1 is not considered a canonical drug or therapeutic target and has no established role as a clinical biomarker or known interacting drug.
