The plant auxin signaling pathway is not a single molecular target but a complex signal transduction network that mediates the action of the plant hormone auxin. Core components of this pathway include the F-box protein family TRANSPORT INHIBITOR RESPONSE 1/AUXIN SIGNALING F-BOX (TIR1/AFB) auxin receptors, Aux/IAA transcriptional repressors, and AUXIN RESPONSE FACTOR (ARF) transcription factors. Upon auxin binding, TIR1/AFB acts as an auxin receptor, promoting interaction with Aux/IAA repressors, which are then ubiquitinated and degraded. This releases ARFs to regulate the expression of auxin-responsive genes, impacting a variety of developmental and physiological processes, such as cell elongation, cell division, organogenesis, and response to environmental cues. The pathway is central to plant growth and development, but it does not represent a canonical drug target, receptor, or single protein suitable for therapeutic intervention in the conventional pharmacological sense[1][2][4].
