Plasma protein synthesis stimulation

01

Overview

Plasma protein synthesis stimulation describes an increase in the biosynthesis and secretion of plasma proteins, primarily in liver hepatocytes, but also in plasma cells and other secretory cells. This process is governed chiefly by amino acid availability, nutrient-sensing pathways like mTOR, and hormonal/cytokine regulation. Increased production of albumin, globulins, fibrinogen, and other plasma proteins is observed in many physiological states (such as after feeding, in the acute-phase response, or in compensation for urinary protein loss in nephrotic syndrome). The process is not attributable to a single molecular target, but rather to concerted transcriptional and translational upregulation influenced by various upstream signaling molecules and factors.
