Overview
Plasmin is a key serine protease enzyme in the blood, primarily responsible for breaking down fibrin clots—a process known as fibrinolysis. It also proteolyses other plasma proteins, activates collagenases and some mediators of the complement system, participates in tissue remodeling, and is involved in inflammation and cell migration.
