Plasmodium falciparum gametocyte is the sexual, transmission-stage cell of the malaria parasite, characterized by its unique crescent shape and specialized cellular architecture, including a robust cytoskeleton and an inner membrane complex (IMC) facilitating morphogenesis and deformability[1][4][7]. Gametocytogenesis comprises five stages; mature stage V gametocytes circulate in peripheral blood and are essential for transmission to mosquitoes[3][7].
