The mitochondrial and nuclear membranes in Plasmodium species are essential structures for parasite survival, playing crucial roles in energy metabolism, genome protection, and organelle segregation during replication. The mitochondrion, bounded by a double membrane, contains a unique electron transport chain and metabolic enzymes. The nuclear membrane encloses the parasite's AT-rich genome.
