Platelet-derived growth factor D (PDGF-D) is a member of the PDGF family, which consists of secreted, disulfide-linked dimeric glycoproteins that play crucial roles in regulating cell growth, division, and migration. PDGF-D primarily signals through the β-type platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFRβ). It stimulates proliferation and migration of mesenchymal cells, promotes fibrogenesis, and is involved in angiogenesis. Overexpression or dysregulation has been implicated in tumor progression, fibrosis, and inflammation. Antibodies targeting PDGF-D have shown efficacy in reducing inflammatory cell infiltration and preventing epithelial-mesenchymal transition in experimental models.
