Platelet-derived Growth Factor Receptor Tyrosine Kinase Family (PDGFR Tyrosine Kinase Family)

Target
PDGFR Tyrosine Kinase Family
Molecular classification
Receptor Tyrosine Kinase, Type III RTK, Receptor
01

Overview

The platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) tyrosine kinase family is a group of cell surface receptors that play a crucial role in cellular signaling, particularly in the regulation of cell growth, survival, and development. These receptors are part of the type III receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) family and include two main isoforms: PDGFRα and PDGFRβ. Ligands include PDGF-A, PDGF-B, PDGF-C and PDGF-D, forming homo- or heterodimers that activate the receptors. Activation leads to autophosphorylation and downstream signaling, influencing cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Dysregulation is associated with diseases like cancer, atherosclerosis, and fibrotic conditions.
