Target intelligence / Profile preview
Platelet membrane glycoprotein VI (GPVI) is a key receptor exclusively expressed on platelets. It mediates platelet activation and aggregation in response to vascular injury by binding to collagen and other extracellular matrix proteins. GPVI exists as a complex with the Fc receptor gamma-chain (FcRγ) and initiates downstream signaling cascades leading to thrombus formation. It is a therapeutic target for antithrombotic therapies.
Blocking GPVI function inhibits platelet activation and thrombus formation
