Overview

PLCXD2 antisense RNA 1 (PLCXD2-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 3 (chr3:111675943-111677433, negative strand) and classified as an antisense lncRNA[3][5]. It regulates gene expression post-transcriptionally, mainly by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges microRNAs such as miR-378a-3p, thereby upregulating its sense gene, PLCXD2[1][4]. PLCXD2-AS1 has been shown to inhibit proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in gastric cancer cells through the miR-378a-3p/PLCXD2 regulatory axis. Although PLCXD2-AS1 participates in cancer biology, it is not itself considered a conventional therapeutic target such as an enzyme, receptor, or transporter[1][4][3][5]. No drugs are reported to directly target PLCXD2-AS1.
