Overview

PMS1 homolog 2, mismatch repair system component pseudogene 3 (PMS2P3) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 7 and does not encode a functional protein. It is classified as a pseudogene due to sequence similarity to the active DNA mismatch repair gene PMS2 but lacks protein-coding potential. Multiple aliases reflect its homology to the PMS2 gene family. Unlike the canonical mismatch repair proteins (such as PMS2), PMS2P3 has no confirmed function in DNA repair, cancer, or other biological processes, and there are no known small-molecule ligands or approved drugs targeting it. There is no evidence that PMS2P3 acts as a functional therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or biomarker in any clinical or pharmacological context.
