PNISR antisense RNA 1 (PNISR-AS1)

Target
PNISR-AS1

01

Overview

PNISR antisense RNA 1 (PNISR-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA transcribed antisense to the *PNISR* gene. Like other antisense lncRNAs, it is presumed to regulate the expression of its sense gene and possibly other loci through mechanisms such as epigenetic modification, recruitment of chromatin modifiers, or direct base pairing with mRNA. Antisense lncRNAs are increasingly recognized for their diverse roles in gene silencing, imprinting, and RNA stability regulation, particularly in cancer and developmental processes. While no PNISR-AS1-specific role has been characterized to date, it may participate in the regulation of gene expression in a manner analogous to other antisense RNAs[1][3].

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (including sense gene regulation)Epigenetic regulation (recruitment of chromatin modifiers)mRNA stability and translational control
03

Disease associations

Act as oncogenes or tumor suppressors (dysregulation can influence cancer, but there is no evidence specific for PNISR-AS1)Modulate gene expression associated with various disease states (general property)
04

Safety considerations

General antisense RNA targeting can present specificity and off-target effects as a concern
