POC1B antisense RNA 1 (POC1B-AS1)

Target
POC1B-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA

Overview

POC1B antisense RNA 1 (POC1B-AS1), also known as RP11-734K2.4, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) classified as an antisense RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the POC1B gene locus. It does *not* encode protein but instead regulates gene expression, potentially through cis- or trans-mechanisms affecting RNA, chromatin structure, and gene transcription pathways. POC1B-AS1 is a prognostic biomarker in certain cancers, such as uterine corpus endometrial carcinoma (UCEC), and has been associated with regulation of tumor immune microenvironment and risk stratification for patient outcome. There is no evidence that POC1B-AS1 is a conventional therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, ion channel, or transporter), nor are there known drugs directly targeting it.
