Podocan-like protein 1 (PODNL1)

Target
PODNL1
Molecular classification
Other (Extracellular matrix structural constituent, small leucine-rich repeat protein family)

Overview

Podocan-like protein 1 (PODNL1) is a member of the small leucine-rich repeat protein (SLRP) family, functioning as an extracellular matrix structural constituent, particularly active in collagen-containing matrices[1][2][5]. PODNL1 has drawn research attention as its methylation status in tumor tissue has been shown to correlate with immune cell infiltration, immune checkpoint molecule expression (such as PD-L1, PD-1, CTLA4), and outcomes in lower-grade glioma, making it a proposed biomarker for prognosis and immunotherapy response[1][4]. There is currently no evidence that PODNL1 functions as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or established therapeutic target, and there are no drugs known to act directly on it[1][2][5].
