Pogo transposable element with KRAB domain (POGK) is a protein characterized by a partially conserved DDE transposase domain (related to pogo transposable elements) and an N-terminal modular KRAB domain, often responsible for recruiting corepressor complexes such as TRIM28, thereby inducing epigenetic silencing at specific DNA sites. Studies suggest that POGK can restrict cancer growth, possibly by repressing genes via recruitment of chromatin-modifying proteins. The protein is encoded on chromosome 1 in humans, and its primary known function relates to the regulation of gene expression in an epigenetic manner, rather than direct enzymatic or receptor-driven activity.
