The Pol protein of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) is a multifunctional viral polyprotein that plays a central role in the replication and maturation of the virus. It encodes three essential enzymes: protease (PR), reverse transcriptase (RT), and integrase (IN).
