Target intelligence / Profile preview
Poliovirus antigen-specific immune response induction involves recognition by B cells and T cells primarily directed at defined surface-exposed epitopes on viral capsid proteins. This leads to production of neutralizing antibodies—critical for protection—and activation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes under certain conditions. The nature and breadth of this response depend upon prior exposure history, type/formulation/delivery route of vaccine used, and individual host factors.
Vaccination induces neutralizing antibodies and T cell responses targeting poliovirus capsid proteins, preventing viral entry and replication.
