Poliovirus receptor related immunoglobulin domain containing 2, pseudogene (PVRIG2P)

Target
PVRIG2P
Molecular classification
Pseudogene, Immunoglobulin domain-containing protein (putative, by homology), Other
01

Overview

PVRIG2P encodes a transcribed pseudogene homologous to PVRIG, a member of the poliovirus receptor-related immunoglobulin domain family. Unlike protein-coding receptors, PVRIG2P is not translated into a functional protein and shows no ribosome footprint coverage, confirming its status as a noncoding transcript[1][5]. Although pseudogenes can exert regulatory effects on parental genes via RNA-mediated mechanisms such as serving as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs), antisense transcripts, or influencing epigenetic modifications, there is no evidence for direct therapeutic targeting or drug interaction with PVRIG2P specifically[4]. It may be mentioned in contexts of gene expression profiling, multi-gene readthrough transcripts, or regulatory RNA studies, but does not produce a protein nor function as a receptor or target for pharmacological intervention[1][2][3][5].
