POLR2DP1 is a pseudogene corresponding to the POLR2D gene, which itself encodes the fourth largest subunit (RPB4) of RNA polymerase II in humans[9]. As a pseudogene, POLR2DP1 does not code for a functional protein product, has no known biological function, and is not considered a therapeutic target. Pseudogenes are typically understood as genomic DNA sequences similar to normal genes but generally non-functional; they may arise by gene duplication or retrotransposition and often do not contribute to gene expression or protein coding in a physiologically relevant manner[9]. This entry should not be used for drug targeting, mechanistic annotation, or disease association due to its non-functional nature.
