POLR2F antisense RNA 1 (POLR2F-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the opposite strand of the POLR2F gene locus. This class of antisense lncRNAs acts as a regulator of gene expression, usually modulating the transcription or stability of the sense gene (in this case, POLR2F), often via mechanisms such as transcriptional interference, chromatin structure alteration, or epigenetic modification. POLR2F-AS1, like other antisense lncRNAs, does not encode a protein and primarily influences gene expression at the RNA level. While antisense lncRNAs as a group are implicated in many biological processes and diseases, including cancer, there are no specific biological, clinical, or pharmacological roles described specifically for POLR2F-AS1 in the current literature.
