Overview

PABPC1P7 is a pseudogene of the poly(A) binding protein cytoplasmic 1 (PABPC1) family in humans[1][4][5][7]. Pseudogenes are segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but are considered non-functional due to accumulated mutations, lack of transcription, or inability to encode a functional protein. PABPC1P7 does not encode an active protein product and does not appear to play a direct biological or pathological role. It is not considered a drug target, biomarker, or functionally relevant gene in current biomedical literature. The genuine PABPC1 gene encodes a cytoplasmic poly(A) binding protein involved in mRNA stabilization, transport, and translation[3][9]. However, PABPC1P7, as a pseudogene, does not encode this protein or take part in mRNA metabolism. There are no known disease associations, biological functions, or clinical implications for PABPC1P7, and it has no established role as a therapeutic target or drug interaction site[2][5][7].
